Carpet Cleaning
Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will having my carpets cleaned cause them to get dirty faster?

A: If cleaned properly, no. Actually, not having your carpets cleaned will cause great damage to the carpet. It is abrasive dirt that will cause your carpets to wear out prematurely or leave unsightly worn paths. In fact, most carpet manufacturer warranties require professional hot water extraction cleaning every 12 to 24 months. If carpets quickly re-soil after a cleaning, it is usually caused by excessive residue being left behind from the cleaning agents that were used. This can be a result of either not neutralizing pre-conditioners or not properly rinsing them from the carpet. Courtesy Care goes to great lengths to do both. We use "top of the line" Truck Mounted Hot Water Extraction equipment to insure we have the power to completely remove all soil and cleaning agents that were used. We go a step further by using a rinsing agent that will neutralize any residue that may remain. This allows us to get even the most soiled carpets looking good again without fear of premature re-soiling.

Q: How much does Courtesy Care charge to clean my carpets?

A: We encourage you to allow us to come to your home and give you a free quote of the cleaning you would like done. You will be under no obligation, nor will you be subjected to high pressure tactics.

During the quote, we will get exact measurements of square footage for the areas you would like cleaned, which will be used to calculate the cost of the service. This also gives us the opportunity to discuss with you the potential results, as well as to make sure we are prepared to address your specific concerns when our technicians arrive to perform the service.

Our current rates are:
  • Standard Package: 30 cents/square foot ($0.30/sq ft)
  • Deluxe Package: 40 cents/square foot ($0.40/sq ft)
  • Moving furniture, cleaning behind furniture: 15 cents/square foot ( $0.15/sq ft)
  • Scotchgard protector: 16 cents/square foot ($0.16/sq ft)

Q: How long does it take for my carpets to dry after cleaning?

A: There are many factors that come into play when determining carpet drying time. The humidity both inside and outside the home, air flow in the home, type of service used and how heavily soiled the carpet was all influence how quickly the carpet will dry after a professional carpet cleaning. On average, a cut pile carpet will typically take 6-12 hours to dry. Application of Scotchgard or odor treatments may add to drying time slightly.

Q: What is Scotchgard and is it really worth it?

A: Scotchgard is a protective barrier between the fibers and the outside world. A good illustration of how Scotchgard works is to compare it to how Teflon works in a skillet. It will repel most food and drink based spills, saving your carpet and upholstery from permanent staining. It also makes it difficult for soil to attach itself to the fibers, which means you will remove more dirt while vacuuming.

Scotchgard, however, is not "bullet-proof." It does require standard good housekeeping practices to be effective. Standard spotting and vacuuming used in conjunction with Scotchgard protector will keep your carpets looking good and lasting longer.

Q: My carpet came with a stain resistant protector when I bought it, do I really need Scotchgard?

A: The cleaning process and agents that Courtesy Care uses do not remove the stain resistent protection that your carpet came with. However, it will wear away with regular foot traffic grinding abrasive soil into the carpet, which breaks down the protection, leaving your carpets vulnerable to permanent staining.

Applying Scotchgard to your carpets after each cleaning will keep the level of protection up over the years and extend the life of your carpet.
