Mold Testing
Mold Testing is performed by a Certified Mold Remediation Technician (CMRT). Typically, aerosol (air) samples are taken in different rooms where mold contamination is likely as well as a control sample taken from outside for comparison. If the mold spore count taken inside shows more mold content in the air than outside, that tells the technician that there is a mold problem in the house.
Notifying the technician of where moisture may have entered the home in the past (due to water leaks, flooding, etc.) will aid him in making sure the tests are performed accurately, as well as being a help in finding the source of the contamination and suggesting a course of action for remediation.
The samples are sent to a professional lab where a report is made identifying the different types of mold present in the home and broken down by the number of spores, giving an accurate indication of the amount of mold present.
