Pet Odor Removal Services

Courtesy Care Offers 2 Pet Odor Treatments For Oriental Rugs…

1. Topical Pet Odor Treatment
In this method, a urine pre-treatment is applied to the top of the rug which breaks down the salt crystals formed when urine dries. This is then extracted to remove the contamination. An enzyme deodorizer is applied directly to the odor causing spots from the top of the rug. Although this treatment is a valiant attempt, it does not remove contamination deep in the knotting and backing of the rug, and for this reason, it is NOT guaranteed.

2. Guaranteed Pet Odor Treatment

In order to guarantee that all odor is removed from your carpet, we have to get more than just the top. Oriental Rugs are constructed by knotting yarns together, and these knots create a great deal of material for urine to soak into below the surface.

With the guaranteed method, after your rug has been tested for colorfastness, it will be submerged in a tank of a solution formulated to break down the urine salt crystals. It is allowed to soak in the solution for several hours and then is vigorously agitated to make sure the solution has been flushed through every part of the rug. After another hour of soaking, the rug is hoisted out of the tank and rinsed thoroughly. If any lingering odor remains, the process may be repeated.

After the final rinsing, the rug is then submerged in a tank of enzyme which is specially formulated to attack the bacteria that grows in urine. This doubles as a deodorizing treatment. Depending on the severity of the odor, the rug may be allowed to soak for between 24 and 48 hours for full effectiveness.

At this time, the rug is removed, rinsed a final time and allowed to dry. After drying, the rug is cleaned as normal.
